Have a 1997 Ram 1500 5.2L
Have installed Catback dual exhaust.
Trying to talk to people that have installed other upgrades and there likes or dislikes.
Like, Airraid intakes, programmers,THB spacers and any other options people
have used.
Let me know. Looking for inputs.

Why didnt like the Airraid CAI? Thats the one was actually looking at.
Dont have any mods on engine yet. So looking at a programmer with at least 3 settings.
Dont want a flash.

It was a peice of crap for what I had to pay for it. The tube rusted on the inside, and the filter was foor quality. Any eBay CAI is as good as the Airaid. The K&N FIPK was a much better CAI for the money.

Ok, here is what I would do:

B&G flash
fastman 50mm TB
programmer
open element round air cleaner
1.7 rockers
a full tune up including autolite 3923's, jegs 8mm wires, new cap and rotor, and a oil change.

TB spacers are complete JUNK, don't waste your money on them.

Why would you do a B&G flash and a Programmer? And why would you suggest the B&G before he's done any other mods? confusion abounds...

Well to be perfectly honest, I don't know too much about either of them. A few people on here are the electrical performance guru's, however I am not, lol. I just have heard alot about those two particular mods, so I suggested them.

I'd probably go with an exhaust as you get to also enjoy the sound of it not just the performance. Then maybe throw on either a programmer such as the Hypertech or a flash such as the B&G or maybe even a SCT tuner if you have the money. The Hypertech imo isn't worth the $280-400 they cost new but it was well worth the $160 I paid and you can usually find them for around there in price if you look for a week or two.

As for the intake I added a Edlebrock pro flo and it's okay but I it's a little noisey. I also thought the bracket that came with it for you to bend was a piece of junk so I spent $30 and had one made that will hold up.

Anoter thing I'd do is check and make sure your pleneum is good and if not change it. Those are probably the biggest things I'd do. This is also assuming you don't need a tune up.
