Default new tranny

I need some work done on my tranny. I have taken it to a couple tranny shops in town and they have both quoted me about 2000 for a rebuild. I am new to the area and dont know who is good and who isnt. I dont want to spend 2 grand for old parts from someone elses tranny if they decide to screw me. I had thought about getting an aftermarket from Dr.Evil or fastman. But the fact of the matter is I plan on trading it in sometime later this year and dont want to spend the extra money that I wont get back when I either trade it in or sell it myself. So my question is has any got a remanufactured one from napa or autozone? I can save about a grand and they have a 3 year warranty on them. Thanks in advance.

For $3000 or more depending on what you want you can get a pretty much bullet proof tranny. I will tell you though and Wanye will tell you to since you plan on trading it in soon this is probably not the option for you. I'd only spend that much if you plan to keep it for a while. If you are going to trade it in shortly I'd try to find a junkyard transmission or something cheap to hold until you get it traded in. I wouldn't spend a couple of grand on something when you are just going to trade it in.

Yeah but they are super expensive and still a crappy design. He would be way better off going with a APS or Dr. Evil that should last a lot longer and will be a lot nicer transmission with a lot of the issues worked out for around the same price. Plus with APS you can get him to start with a brand new unit so it wouldn't even be a rebuilt one. Thats what I did. For me he started with a brand new one and built it from there. You can get a brand new Mopar transmission thats the stock one from APS for I think around $2k which is a lot cheaper than the dealer and not rebuilt it's new.
