Default Rear Oil Seal Leak ?

I believe i have a rear oil seal leak, but i just want to make sure. I drove to the mountains yesterday, about a 140 mile round trip. This mornin comin out side there is a good amount of oil on the ground. Prolly a quart or more. The tranny pan, front drive shaft, and skid plate are coated in oil. The front of the engine is dry, but starting from the drain plug and back is coated in oil. Are my assumptions correct?

Also, when i took my truck to the dealership a couple months ago i got it back and the 4x4 wasnt working. Its way too late to take it back now, which i should have done immediatly (just call me neon), but i discovered the vaccum tube that comes off the actuator has a plug in it. It is way to short, and looks as if they cut it, and pluged it, to make me come back and get that fixed as well. Does anyone know where i can get the diagram for this, so i can get a new tube and connect it back to the vaccum system?

A quart?

Man Neon, er motor, I think you don't have a rear main seal! jk

I honestly don't know if that's it or not, but from everything I've ever read on a rear main seal leak, it's just a few drips on the driveway that leak down from the tranny dust cover. You might want to spray some engine degreaser up under there and spray it out to see if you can more acurrately pinpoint the leak. It's possible you've blown the oil pan gasket.

Vac diagrams should be in the FSM under the merry Christmas thread.

HAHA! I aint neon now, i fix my own ****!! It could possibly be the oil pan gasket. You have a rear seal leak dont you aim? Is your drips coming from one particular place, or all over? I have 3-4 different spots on the driveway when i come out in the morning, about the size of a quarter. This morning was the worst ive seen, reminded me of my tranny leak i had a while ago. Could be because driving highway speeds for 140 miles blew oil all over the skid plate and tranny, and overnight it all dripped off. Its almost impossible to keep the oil dipstick at full, and you can smell it burnin on the exaust pipe by my tranny pan. So thats why i was assuming rear main.

could be...
Oil pan gasket,
Rear Main seal,
Oil filter

check the exact color of the fluid, make sure it isnt transmission fluid, cause if it is, it could be the
Front pump seal on transmsision...
requires removal of transmission....

I pretty sure it's the rear main seal as it's small drops on the driveway. Also, it comes straight from the dust cover on the tranny and it's definitely oil. It's only one or two new drops a day, but now I have a new problem. Coolant in the same area, and it's fresh. I sprayed up under the truck yesterday and cleaned all under there so I could be sure about the leak and found coolant yesterday. Thinking I'd just been sloppy with it I washed it all away and checked today and it's back. I'm hoping it's just from a sloppy T stat install, but I'll be inspecting everything as I take a bunch of stuff off later. I'll start a new thread on that too.

here's some pics:

Crawl underneath and look for the highest point that looks oily. Anything leaking from the top will collect underneath.
Leaks at the Oil sending unit, intake manifold, distributor, and oil filter can easily be misdiagnosed as a rear mail seal or oil pan.

Spray some de-greaser on the motor and pressure wash the oil and grime off, to get a better idea of where the leak is
