3" lift kit for 2wd!
I finally found a lift kit for my truck. its a 3" kit. but i just have a question. i was reading through the posts and read that blocks are bad. im just curious as to why, cuz i dont know. do they make the ride harsh? are they hard on the existing leafs?

As far as that kit goes, it doesn't look very good. A 3" lift on a 2wd requires aftermarket UCA, the website doesn't even mention them. That is enough to stay away from them. Also, like aubrey said, blocks really are not that bad, their just the cheap way to do it. Kinda like spacers vs springs. 1 is cheap, the other is more performance oriented. Blocks do however add to the chance of axle wrap occuring.

Main thing I can think of off the top of my head about blocks is that they strain your U bolts more then they should be strained. If ever they recieve too much strain and snap, there goes your rear axel out from under your truck... That's a no-no. It's safer to just have your rear leaf springs rearched for the lift if not more. Another option is to possibly get some 3/4 ton springs that had been rearched for lift instead of the 1/2 tons when you go to a shop that does this kind of work. A shop quoted me 200 for either of the two options, so if the local places around you are similar the cost could be the same.
