Default I went to the races....

Ok, so today I went to the track where it was an open weekend where local residents can come race for free hosted by the local police. Ok, so I go watch a few races and then the most interesting race I have ever seen comes up. A 1969 Chevelle with Slicks, full exhaust, blower, and long tube headers against a lifted 1997 Dodge Ram 2500 4X4. Im thinking, "Ok, you got to be kidding me." I have the same year Dodge, but a 1500 2wd. So Im sitting there watching the tree go from Yellow to Green, and the Camaro has so much torque, that it burns out sideways while the Ram launches off and ends up getting some ridiculous time of 14 seconds or something like that on a 1/4 mile track. So I walk over to the truck after the race and I peer into the engine bay and it appears the guy put a Supercharger into a hemi engine and somehow got it into this 2nd Gen ram. So now that I have seen it done, I plan on doing it. Any Comments?

hope you have unlimited funds. hemi engine needs a compatable tranny, and compatable computer. plus the charge of the supercharger, which will be around 4-5 grand.

haha, yeah. true true. I just think the guy was incredibly crazy to try it in the first place. I mean, other than getting a 14 second time, is it really worth it?

Yeah, i think ill stick with my SS/T and keep it somewhat simple. There are only 5,025 or something like that. They were only made between the years of 1996 and 1997. Available in 5 colors, Black w/ Silver, Silver w/ Black, Red w/ Silver, Green w/ Silver and White w/ Black. I think only 1,005 are available in each color. On the Driver side door Jam there is a sticker on the real ones that says, "Built With Pride In The U.S." If you see one that is Blue w/ White or the opposite color scheme, that is the Indy 500 edition.

You dont need to do a hemi swap to make your genII fast!!!
Indyramman hasnt run a 14sec pass yet that I know of. He should have enough to now though.

Ran my first 14 with my Indy back in 99 (14.49). O1 with a stock 5.9 from tb down and no bottle or s/c ran a 13.99. (all bolt ons/tricks) http://www.rm-indy.com/wavefiles/13....%2020%2001.WMV
05 ran a 12.91 with mild 5.9 (stk heads/bottom end) and 7psi boost from my Procharger. Stock computer really held it back. http://www.rm-indy.com/wavefiles/Oct...Indy-5.0GT.wmv
This year, should run a 12.6 with my na 408. 7psi boost figure should run solid 11.2s. Wont be able to run double digit boost till next year. Need cogs, 4link suspension and a cage.

Lots of things you can do to make serious hp with a 5.9. Go check out KRC performance or Hughes Engines. Superchargers are fun too, love the sound of my Procharger at idle.

nope, rm is right. Only 15s for me so far. I was scratching at 14s for a while, shoot if I just farted a little I probably would have had a 14.99 run. 15.03 was the best last year with basicly just exhaust. Its not hard to get these trucks to run fast (for a truck). I went 16.05 or something my first run stock. Air cleaner, throttle body, new plugs/wires/coil, 15.7, headers 15.3, took out weight and got a short belt to eliminate power steering and ac at the track and the hood scoop was 15.03. Over the winter Iv put in an entirely new valvetrain (minus the valves themselves). I still have yet to install the gears and posi unit I have but ill be putting them in somewhat soon. I also have a set of wheels and hoosier quick time pros to help. Im fairly certian Ill be decently in the 13s this year. Also a lot of the times depend on the track you race at. My track is at 54ft above sea lvl (corrected at 151 by barometric computer). If your some place higher your going to run slower. My track also just redid the 1/8th in concrete so thats going to be a factor as well.

A little correction on the ss/t's, 97/98, not 96/97. The blue and white are indys, but the white and blue are ss/t's
