V10 questions on power???
Ive been doing alot of reading lately about the v10's.. Mainly becasue I just bought a 98 2500 v10/auto 4x4. Has a leveling kit, 315 75 16 tires, stock 355 gears withlimited slip rear end.. The cats have been hogged out with a single Flowmaster on it. Just over 100k miles.. And gets maybe 9mpg if Im lucky.. My main question is everyone says how the v10 will light the tires up at 10mph all day long.. Mine wont even chirp the tires from a stand still??? Is it just the tires and limited slip?
No tune up yet.. I just bought it last friday.. It seems to have good power once your into it.. Just right off the bottom its almost like a diesel and needs to spool up to get into the power?? I pulled a 7000lbs trailer with little effort.
I can't do a brake stand with mine either. The rear brakes seem to hold the 285-75-16s. It will load up but no tire spin: that is with 4.10 gears. It hooks up really good too unless the roads are wet. There isn't any thing wrong with it: it pulls a 12 000 lbs 5th without any trouble. Good thing I've got a mustang to play in!

I don't know maybe it has a bad case of torque management or something. It seems like it might be something they are programmed for if neither one of you guys will do it.
I agree with Sir Hilton my Ram 1500 with 33"s and a Auburn LSD in the rear with basically a Hypertech and APS transmission. It will chirp the tires leaving a light if you put the gas down with no brake. It will maybe do a little more than chirp but it doesn't just spin until you let out of it or anything. Once you are moving it doesn't want to spin them if you are going straight. If you powerbrake it you can sit there spinning all day and once you let of the brake it will spin for quite a while. I haven't done it with the new tranny as I want to keep it but it would with the old OEM tranny without the hypertech. I'd say something is up unless the V-10's have the computer limiting something so they can't do it.

mine wont do a burn out either, its not a fast truck by any means just powerfull, you can put anything behind it and drop the hammer and it will just keep accelerating. its like endless power.
