cant get into 4 low
Today I decided to flip threw the 4x4 gears, all of them are extremely stiff, and I can not get into 4 low at all. Its also very difficult getting from neutral back up to 4 high.
Is there somethig I can lube to halp this or is there an adjustment that might be needed?
I did however get my arm rest working much better today
Thanks in advance

Yes I got a 98' stiff and almost uncertain feeling shifts, to get into 4 low, you have to stop the car, shift your transmission into nuteral and then it will unblock the shifter letting you shift into 4 low, I think this is so, so you don't shift into 4 low going 60 because it will slow you down so fast, and your RPMs would skyrocket. As far as going back it takes a while to shift back when driving, but it goes faster if you stop the car, shift into netural and then put it in 2wd. Same goees for normal 4wd, it shifts into and out of it if your transmission is in netural and your not shifting on the fly.

mine grind really bad when i try to shift out of 4low.im always afraid im gonna break something so i shut off the motor and put it back that way.is this wrong?can i bust something if i jam it back(in neutral)into 4high?
Ive did all the shiftinng while stopped, and in neutral (I have a 5-speed), even tried to do it with the truck turned off, every which way you can imagine. I know I probably wont need 4 low any time soon, but I dont like the fact I cant get it engaged.
Mine has jammed a couple of times and i find the best way to fix it is to slam it as hard as you can into low. Ive never broke anything on mine and it always works and it would probably work on yours but i didnt tell you to do it.
I used to have problems getting my truck into 4hi or low, but it would always work with a little force, but recently we just had a huge snow storm and i was throwing it in and out of 4wd on the fly ALL the time, and now its as easy to put it in 4wd as it is to shift a manual car. I think it just needs to be broken in, or re-broken in. Like anything mechanical, if it sits not being used for long extended periods of times it just needs a little kick in the *** to get it moving again. And in response to the guy that was saying your gears grinded really bad coming out of 4low? Everyone was saying that you had to put it in N to get it into 4lo...you also have to have it in N to get it out of 4lo or your gears will grind like crazy.

A couple more tips for shifting....when shifting into 4low, if you're having some trouble, let the truck roll a little bit while you shift. For shifting in/out of 4hi while driving, let off the gas as you shift.
