valve covers....

Thought I'd revive an old thread. ;-)
I've been researching online for ideas on painting valve covers. I like the black wrinkle style- just not the color. However, living in a tiny town like I do, I don't know of anyone who does powder coating.
However, I did find an interesting link during my search- and while not powder coating, it does heat treat the regular paint to resist cracking- using a regular oven.

If I was to use this method on new black wrinkle valve covers, would I have to sand the black wrinkle finish first, or could I just prime and paint over top?
Thanks.
