piecing together a lift
so im thinking i want to add a few more inches.
i have a 98 ram 1500 sport.
currently i have 3" spacers in the front with rancho 8000 shocks (for up to 6" of lift)
in the back i have 1.5" blocks under the leafs.
i found this kit http://store.topguncustomz.com/store...amp;i=53702626seems to be a good price but i was wondering if anyone, since most of you guys know all the hidden websites with cheaper parts, wants to help me piece this together
i was thinking i need the following
Front
3" springs
adjustable upper/lower control arms
drop pitman
sway bar relocate
track bar relocate
bump stops
back
3" add a leaf
shocks
longer u bolts?
with all of this i would hope to have 6" total lift in the front and an 4.5 -5 in the rear
i think the truck sits 1" higher in the rear right now
would go with the kit from top guns but i dont like the idea of haveing a 5" spacer and a 5" block seems that it would make the truck a little unstable
any comments links or things i need would help thanks.

Well, going up past 5 inches is where things start to get complicated. Proper mods will not allow you to go back to stock.
I would go with a newlong arm kit, one that doesn't use yourstock brackets.I would not use allthe stock brackets with longer arms on lifts over 5 inches. I think Top gun sells a nice set of bolt on long arms that look pretty good.
You could use 3 inch springs on your 3 inch spacers, or I would find a set of six inch springs. Adapting a set of longerJeep YJ sway bar ends will keep your sway bar tucked under your bumper.Thuren track bar or similar is a must.
You'll need a drop pittman arm, and should consider a 1999one ton (?)or similar type of cross over steering (Thuren).
A BDS AAL will give you 3 inches over stock, and you might try to find an "offroad" ram spring pack for an extra 1 and a half inches.

Is this kit some kind of a joke? It doesn't look like your gunna go with the top gunz kit, but understand that that kind of thing is gunna kill some one. They put the absolute cheapest kit together, to save money, but severely sacraficing both safety and ability. I have 3in springs on the front and 1.5" blocks, and personally I hate the blocks but 1.5" is no 5 inches, go with gotmud1 and avoid a very unsafe thing like this
I'm not sure why you'd take offense with my suggestions, as I had recomended going with the right arms and removing the spacers. Maybe you mistyped. I'd sure like to know what was wrong with my ideas.
I don't believe R/C makes a cheap unsafe lift. It's a made in USA product. I've run one on and off road for over 3 years. Phoenix Traffic (nuff said)!Twisted, stuffed and jumped it. Towed an overloaded U haul from Phoenix to Tulsa with it. Other than the front springs sagging a bit, it rides fine. There's no bump steer or alignment issues. If there were flaws I would have found them.
I only run the factory block at the rear, with the BDS AAL and an offroad spring pack. That combo netted me 5 inches over stock.

no i don't believe that rough country makes a bad kit, personally I love it that is what my truck has. But the difference is that the kit that you have listed has 5 inch rear blocks and 5 inch front spacers. Personally i would consider this very unsafe. Here is what I would do.
Keep you spacers
Buy 3 inch diesel springs (4 inchs)
Dick Cepek long arm kit
sky jacker extreme drop pitman arm
lose the sway bar
longer extended brake lines
for the back
get a 6 inch shackle flip
or maybe a 4 inch shackle flip and offroad springs or an aal
Please stay away from that 5 inch spacer lift. I really don't think that thing is safe at all.

Yeah you missread my post...I never recommended using a 5 inch spacer front or rear. Don't know how you got the idea...
Just to clarify "Long Arms" means something that doesn't use your stock brackets. R/C kits come with longer control arms that uses the factory mounting points, but once you exceed a magic number (5") you are really in need of arms that will maintain the proper geometry. Tough Gun sells a "Long arm kit" as does Cepek and several others.
While the 5 inch R/C l kit has been installed and used succsesfully...see (Pavement Sucks) it is at the cusp of a rough riding system due to the geometry and length of the arms...in the factory mounts.
I hope that clarifies things.

The reason I got that idea is because the link that you posted directs me to a kit with 5 inch spacers. I know your not going to buy that, but I was only saying that because I believe it to be incredibly unsafe
