Default Changing a fuel filter?

How hard is it to change a fuel filter on a 1998 dodge ram 1500? Cause I tried looking for one and I couldn't find one. Is it one of those fuel filters that are in the gas tank ?

Yeup. Gotta drop the tank or raise the bed.

What is the easiest way of getting at the fuel filter? and can you just change the fuel filter or do you have to change the pump as well?I don't know much about the dodge fuel filter.

The fuel filter and fuel pump are all integral. There are (literally) a bazillion topics about the fuel pump assy that detail its construction. Unless you have debris in the injectors or problems with fuel delivery, there's no real need to change it; however, spending a few bucks on a new pressure regulator, which sits atop the fuel pump, would be beneficial. The pressure regulator acts like a last stage filter.

The hardest part about dropping the gas tank is getting the tank as empty as possible beforehand. Every time I've ever dropped a tank, the darn thing was almost full. Internal fuel pumps, filters, and gas tank leaks only seem to have issueswhen the tank is full.
