Default EGR Kegger mod

Has anyone done the kegger mod to their intake on an EGR intake?
I have a 96 360 that I was planing on modding until I pulled it out last night. My manifold did not have an EGR on it but it had the porting for it with a plate blocking it. Anybody have any ideas on this? Should it have the EGR or do I possibly have a truck that never had it and Dodge was using up stock and blocking the ports?

Personaly I wouldn't worry about the EGR. It isprobable Dodge was using old stock and added the EGR plate at the factory just so they could use up that old stock of intakes.

I don't have to pass emissions in MN so that is not a concern. Would the VIN number call out if it was supposed to have it?

It gets more interesting the more I dig. I had the dealer run the VIN on my truck and they even called Dodge on it. It originally had EGR according to the VIN. I double checked my exhasut manifolds and there is no porting on them for EGR tube. I think I am going to Mod it since the EGR port on the manifold is capped with a plate and not being used anyway.

I did the kegger mod this week. So far it has worked just fine for the 10 minutes it ran before the water pump puked. I lucked out and my neighbor had a 1996 1500 parts truck and pulled the intake off from it for a case of beer.

There is at least one '96 out there with EGR, mine, but is not connected now, just sticking out like an ugly growth on the intake. The guy who owned this truck before me had cut it from the exhaust and soldered it shut when he did his crappy "Frankenstein" version of a true dual exhaust system. The intake manifold shows no signs whatsoever of having been removed in the past so I believe it is the original. BUT you never know for certain if you aren't the original owner, do you??? Just thought I would chime in...
