I'm partial to Infinity's, My truck had them from the factory, but I bought some different model Infinity's and replaced them.

I'm all for pioneer 3-ways, they are cheap, have very good sound reproduction and good base, the only thing is they have to either have a powered sub in the system where the high pass filter cuts off below 80Hz to the speakers or the speakers have a separate dedicated amp. i started with just the speakers and the stock cd player, great sound at tolerance level for longer drives but cranking it gets distorted quick trying to replicate strong low frequencies, with sub and H-unit, couldnt ask for better sound.

+1. I had the "Infinity Sound System" without the Infinity head unit from the factory.

I listened to the nice 3-way and 4-way Pioneers (3-ways were TS-A6972R, I don't believe the 4-ways are sold by Best Buy anymore), and then compared each to the aftermarket Infinity 3-ways, REF9623I. The Infinitys were crisper and had better bass, so I went with them. I've always been partial to Pioneers and Sonys, but you could definitely tell the difference between them and the Infinitys.

My Best Buy discount also came in handy there. The markup on car audio stuff at almost any audio place, including Best Buy, is around 100%.

The only problem that I've heard about Infinity 6x9s is they can't handle aftermarket amps very well, they tend to blow. Not a really problem for me, since I don't intend to ever get an amp, but it is something to keep in mind.

This is a personal preference as I thought of going to Infinities until I heard them. They are too tinny for me. Kenwoods are pretty close. Pioneer and JBL sound kind of thin to my ears.I actually prefer Alpines. I've only recently heard Focal and althoughvery expensive for my budget, they sound really nice.
You really need to listen to them yourself. You may not like the same thing.

Sony car audio stuff is junk. Do you want the best out there or the best for a resonable price? For really nice stuff for a good price Infinity is good. Another 2 brands to check out are Polk and Alpine. I have a set of Alpines and have had them for several years in my Accord and I really like them. However I have Polks in my truck and had Polks in our old truck that my buddy now has. IMO they are just as good if not better than the Alpines although they did cost about double the price. The ones he has are 6x9 Momos. The ones in my truck are Polk DB's 6.5" components up front and 6.5" coaxials in the rear. The momo's wouldn't fit without some modifiying. They said the DB's wouldn't but they will.

I run Infinity subs. They all are nice I'd just go to a local store and pickout which sounds best to you. I'm personally a fan of Alpine for amps and H/U's as you can tell I run an amp and H/U from them but for speakers I like them but I'm more partial to the Polks.

You may be better off if you have a sub going with 6.5"s up front as it gives you a ton more options as to what will fit. Just use an adapter bracket. Thats what I did.

Infinity, Pioneer, and Alpine are all good. Sony makes decent amps, but stay away from their speakers.

If you want really good sound quality, get the Pioner 5-way 6x9s.

I know I had a set of I think 2 or 3 way Pioneers 6.5 that are probably 3-5 years old now and they are okay but there are better speakers out there for the money. Ever since those I have kind shyed away from them. They like I said aren't bad I just wasn't super impressed. I hear good things about the new ones though so they may be pretty good. I still say components are the way to go for the front if you want good sq.

All these well marketed brand names....any of you heard of the line Earthquake?

Awesome subs and speakers...I have 5x7 in front and they out kick, sound and perform most 6x9 out there. I wanted their 6x9 but the magnet was too large for the front cause of the window!!!!

I have 5.25 in the back also but I think I will tear those out and put in my other vehicle then buy 6x9 and mode to fit in the back!
