Default Hood Liner Removal

Anyone see any downside to this? Mine is practically falling off and starting to rub against engine parts. The places in the liner where the plastic clamps attach have torn and no longer hold the liner to the bottom of the hood. Will this cause the engine to heat the hood too much and fade the paint or something?

Thanks for any info!

Thanks, I'll probably rip it out this evening before it falls off completely and gets stuck in the belts while I'm driving it or something.

That'd be too logical.

it won't hurt anything to remove it, not all 1500 trucks came with them..... mine didn't and it has done just GREAT!! for the last 5yrs.

Ya, mine never had a hood liner either. No problems. Should be fine to remove it.

You should be fine without it. I'm running a fiberglass hood (a worse conductor of heat than steel) on my truck without the liner and haven't had any paint problems.

How much lighter is your fib hood? is it worth swapping out? also how much and where?

It's a lot lighter. One person can easily pick it up and move it around. I payed around $550 for it from a company on E-bay. They offer a few different style hoods (all ram-air designs).
