tranny cooler questions?

BIGGER IS NOT BETTER!! (At least when it comes to this
) It is just as bad for you transmission to be operating too cool as it is for it to be operating too hot. This is the one I recommend: http://www.jegs.com/p/TCI/748659/10002/-1/10535

remember, your water temp is also "showing" you your trans temp. The trans temp is diffrent than the water temp, but if your running the stock cooler (which is in the radiator) what happens to the temp of the water happens to the temp of the trans. Overhead the water, sometimes youll overheat the trans.
I 'think' the 8 rows would be better than the 6. I think tube size is the same for both. Even though the 6 rowhas thicker fins I think the extra 2 rows would more than make up for the reduced fin area. Both are probably overkill for anything your truck could tow anyway. It's hard to compare as neither rates BTU or weight capacity for the coolers.
If your concerned about over cooling run the hot pressure line from the trans to the New cooler then through the radiator and back to the trans. Most factory systems are plumbed this way so that the engine coolant can warm the trans fluid if it gets too cold.
I don't think it's as important as you areso far South but it still good insurance. It's definitely the way to go if you get any kind of winter weather.

you have the flex a lite that we are talking about. Was it an easy install and did it fit well, also what all did it come with. BTW I regularly tow around 6-7000lbs, and this summer I will probably tow more.
Might I suggest something like this...

or depending upon your truck, something a little bigger...

I pull nothing less then 10k, more on a regular basis. Plus I have the cummins so I am pushing more HP/Torque. And I also have property in South FL (WPB area) and tow in the heat often enough. Also take into account that thedodgetransmissions of this generation do not pump fluid in park, and barely when stopped in drive.
Also make sure that you are purchasing a cooler with the proper sized lines (AN-8 =1/2", AN-6=3/8") if you restrict the flow of fluid you will do more damage than good. Keep in mind line presssure, those kits you posted use hoses and clamps, not something I would rely upon, you can have a local supply house press the proper ends onto a line for you (AN fittings) and never worry about popping off the line held on by a rusty tin hose clamp.
And yes I run a Derale cooler, and a Derale pan. Just my .02 hope it helps.

humm.. those are a bit more expensive then the ones weve been talking about. For me its less about towing and more about extending trany life. Id rather spend 55 bucks then 180
