that's the fresh air breather, the PCV can spit up some nasty stuff on the odd occasion (regulates ehaustas pressure and recirculates back into the intake) and the might plug that breather quick. Mopowar was having issues with his PCV a long while ago, he rigged up something to fix it, can't remember what though.

PCV=Positive Crancase ventilation... Keeps blowby out of the crankcase to keep your oil cleaner and reduce so much carbon buildup.

that breather isnt for the pcv valve. The pcv needs vacume from the manafold for proper ventilation. That breather replaces the hose that went from the top of the valve cover to the stock air hat.

There really isn't a reason you can't remove the PCV valve.
Buy you might get some oily residue or smell as the crankcase is nowvented to the engine compartment.
What's your reasoning for wanting to remove the PCV?

i think he meant breather for an aftermarket air cleaner...no harm with that unless you have excessive blowby.

Thats not the PCV valve. Thats the crankcase breather tube. The PCV valve is on the other valve cover. Anyway why do you need to remove it? I'd leave it alone. I do however have one of those breathers like that on my truck just not to replace the pcv valve.
