I was thinking toque converter...my extended warranty has taken over so I will take it in this week...

I wouldnt think it's the TC since when it's in OD it's louder, on my 2000 the TC is locked pretty quickly in both 3rd and OD and I'd think that if you had an TC problem it would be the same in both 3rd and OD...

My truck is in the shop today...I talked to the client rep (vs the mechanic) he says it is definitely the transmission but would not get specific. He said not sure how long to fix but they may have to keep it until next week...they will pay for a rental $50.00 CAD a day. Apparently, my extended warranty expires Feb 2005...LOL (yeah!)
I am not looking forward to a rental...I miss my truck already. I took public transportation today -24 outside I do not know how people do this daily...

Hopefully you got it to them before any further damage happend. Plus good thing its under warranty. let us know how it is when you get it back.

BET IT WAS THE OVERDRIVE UNIT--ITS THE BACK PORTION OF THE TRANNY, CRAPPY LITTLE BEARINS IN THERE--YUK YUK

I am driving a magnum as a rental...a little lower but for a couple days its a blast...lousy traction in the winter but fun!

Now, I do not know exactly what everything means however here goes:

Complaint: check for grinding noise when driving. Noiser when in O/D shifting OK

Cause: O/D bearing failure causing case damage, band failure.88732 as per tsb rerogram.

Correction: re & re trans pan (large amount of metal in pan) re & re trans & completly dissasembly for inspection. recondition trans. Reverse flush cooler. reprogram pcm 18-006-02

1 converter
-1 core return
1 seal and
1 case-tran
1 piston
1 bearing
1 bearing
1 band - reve
1 band - asst
1 filter - va
10 aft +4 aut
1 filter - oi
1 label - a
1 aft +4 aut
all this was under warranty

They also changed a motor mount and added some oil total bill came out to: $92.11CAD (74.16US)

not that this is a bad thing but damn sounds like you got off cheeeeep, (if you had to pay it) good for you man.Dennis
