Default Best PLUGS/WIRES to use '98 Ram 1500 5.9L

I was wondering what everybody thinks to be the BEST plugs/wires to use in my '98 Ram 1500 with the 5.9L engine in it. I have been using the Champions, but really hate this brand even though they are Dodge specific. Now on that same note, I don't want to spend an arm and a leg for these items either. So basically the best without going overboard with "top of the line."

I'm trying to be better gas mileage out of my engine. I was only getting 10mpg and then replaced an o2 sensor, and now up to 14mpg, but I know I can still get a little better out of it. Any ideas here would be of great help.

Thanks in advance.

My O2 sensor was a Bosch. My ignition coil that I replaced was a Napa High Preformance. I have the standard plugs in right now and the middle line of plug wires from Auto Zone. I HATE both the plugs and wires. I use to like some of Auto Zones parts, and now I'm starting to hate them as I've been having some issues with them. Lately I have been getting a few OEM parts from the Dodge Dealer as they have been better priced. They've been coming down on alot of there prices on OEM. I just got the speed sensor for the rear diff from Dodge and was $5 cheaper than the aftermarket and better quality after I compaird the two of them.

Ok, so t'hat's what your running onyours. Now of course I have already installed the Napa's high preformance ignition coil, so what should I use for the plugs and wires then??? Some say the Autolites and some say the Champions. I'm wanting to know which plugs and wires to use, so please tell me what you feel is the BEST.

Thanks

You know,

I didn't have good luck with the Autolite 3923's. I've been running the MSD setup - 6A box, blaster 3 coil and 8.5mm wires. I tried everything I could think of with those plugs: indexing, gapping at .040, .045, .038, dielectric grease, and just couldn't get the thing to idle smooth. Felt a little sluggish when I stepped on it, too.

I switched to stock heat Champion Truck plugs (p/n 4436 for the '98-'01 and p/n 4071 for '94-'97, I believe) and I am much happier with the idle. Haven't noticed a lick of pinging either as of yet.

I am currently using NGK Iridium IX plugs. A little expensive, but no problems yet, and the iridium lasts a long time.

I have been eyeing the Autolite Professional series wires at Advance Auto. They aren't 8mm, they are 7mm, but I've heard good things about them. I think they want $52 plus change for those.

Ok, what are the MSD's? I might try the Autolites just to see how they do. I have had idle problems with both the Champions and Duragaurds from Auto Zone. I guess I have nothing to loose by trying the Autolites, but I think I will try the platinums or double platinums as I had good results with them when I had both a Ford Ranger and Explorer. I like my Ram so much better, I just need to get a few minor issues fixed witih it.
