I went and got myself a Fram suregrip just for the sakes of having a new filter when I put in my Castrol, but when I switch over to Royal Purple I was thinking of either a Summit Filter, NAPA gold filter or the Mopar filter.

Now, I wouldn't be posting this if not just to hear if there are any new recent updates on people running these filters for extensive amounts of miles with synthetic fluid.

go amsoil, with their filter. The new signature oil can be run for 35,000 miles

I've been sold on Royal Purple for a long time now, so I'm not swaying another way for the oil, lol.

Yeah, I'd stick w/ royal purple. I just put in four quarts and a can of engine restore and she runs beautifuly, at least the engine part of her. Tranny's another story! As for the filter, I just used the Fram suregrip, the oil gonna be changed out every 5000 miles and a filters what, $4! Oil filters aren't reusable so theres no point in getting the outrageously priced k&n filters or anything like that.

NAPA gold filter is a WIX filter rebranded.

I've not yet read a bad post about WIX filters, but plenty about Frams. Most Frams use a cardboard gasket inside the oil filter and I wouldn't trust them for extended interval changes.

The amsoil I use is 25k mile. Use amsoil filter or wix. Fram blows and who cares if a filter says mopar on it.

WIX and Purolator are the best filters I've seen. I use Purolator for every oil change.

Except this last time I used an STP. Also a great filter.

I would never use a fram filter after some of the **** I've seen happen to them. They blow up. Never will I use one, Ever.

Here is the oil filter study just FYI

I run nonthing but a Mopar oil filter and Maxlife 10w30 oil in my truck. Royal Purple motor oil is a good racing oil, but not for everyday vehicles. I have friends that got on the Royal Purple kick because it claims horsepower increases, but the only thing that they got from the oil is leaks from seals and gaskets that were not leaking before switching over. The oil does not resist shear and tends to break down quicker than other oils, which is not a problem if you use it in race motors and change the oil every weekend after racing.

I would never put a Fram oil filteron any vehicle that I own, they are plain junk. The filters are made cheap and if you would ever cut one open then you would see. The thing that Honeywell does well is advertisment, and that is how they drive sales of a product that actually hurts the engine.

read a little bit about amsoil and you will be sold. What makes them so amazing is that when gasoline gets slipped by the rings(it happens in every motor), most oils quickly get diluted and detiorate into a thinner oil, amsoil is not affected by petroleum and therefore retains its properties, also most cars when they run a little hot, around 230 degrees, most oils will burn, but amsoil is not affected by heat. For an example, I changed my oil almost 17,000 miles ago, and i'm about 1/4quart low, and is still as clean as the day i changed it. I'd like to see any other oil do that.

I have always used Fram filters never had a problem. I have read where people have heard bad things about them and how they fall apart but I've never seen it. At the last 1 or 2 changes though I got a Mopar filter. Its not much more then the Frams at wal mart so I figured what the heck
