Default Plug Wire Opinions??

Just did a couple searches but nothing popped up on BWD plug wires. Anyone have any opinion on them?

I got them at Checker Autoparts, the guy said he really likes them and when they first came out they measured the resistance and they measured just as good as the MSD's.

They were in stock and cheaper than Accel and MSD so I went ahead and picked them up.

What do you guys think?

Never heard of them. I'm on my second set of MSD's though and like them. I also really like the Taylor Thundervolt 8.2mm wires I run in my Honda. I wouldn't hesitate to run either set.

I suppose I'll give these a shot, hopefully they are decent. What exactly is the advantage of 8.5mm over 7mm? Is it just the resistance or is it the insulation factor or something??

8.5mm is better (thicker) insulation than 7mm. This helps to avoid shorting out between wires to each other or to grounded parts in high energy ignition systems. I believe it also helps with reducing radio signal interference. I usually see that the thicker wires are recommended on all HEI systems.

borg warner are good wires. At a stock level its really unimportant as to which wire set you choose. The thing about bwd's is if they get near heat they often times degrade. I used to sell them when I was at pepboys and that was the common complaint. I had a few sets on my other cars. They were ok. I did notice Id get a misfire after a while when they would go too near heat, such as exhaust manifolds.

Ok gotcha, hey I see everyone talking about the MSD blaster coil but I noticed that there are two different kinds...

blaster 2

blaster ss

The blaster 2 is in stock at Autozone right now so I might pick it up but I have 2 questions for ya;

Is it going to be better than stock? And will I be wasting my money if I'm not upgrading to the 8.5mm wires??

According to RM_Indy, the stock coil gets crappy in the upper rpms and doesn't recharge as quickly as it needs to. the Blaster 2 or Blaster SS will work, but there were some threads a while back that stated you need to use a ballast resistor with the SS coil. Both coils are better than stock. I run the blaster 3 as it has an elongated tip that isolates the spark from the coil wires, cost the same as the B2 and was cheap insurance. MSD makes a replacement coil that screws right into the old mounts and looks exactly like the stocker, but performs as well. It's part number 8228 I believe and you'll want an accel wire adaptor to go with it if it's a later model truck.
