Mod was actually short for 'modern' in the 1970's. Do you remember the Mod Squad? I find it odd you would pick on this one word, when most people on this forum do not want to spell correctly, use capitalization, or use proper grammar. I do agree with your initial assessment; however, getting people to changewill bean uphill battle (did you catch the proper use of a semicolon?).

My pet peeve is always using lol. Does that really make you laugh out loud? STOP IT!

Please stop using the term "mods". It makes you sound so dumb.

Do you honestly want everyone to type out "modification" every time? I'm a stickler for spelling and grammar but "mod" or "mods" doesn't bother me at all.

I dont think theres a problem with using abbriviations, but people talk about "mods" like its in a list of things to be done to reach "X" point (who knows what that is). " I did the air cleaner mod" "I did the coil mod" "What plugs should I get for my spark plug mod" "Whats the best exhaust mod?". Instead, "I changed my air cleaner" or, "I put in a diffrent coil", "What are the factory recommended spark plugs or something comparable?" "What exhaust setup is most appropriate for my purposes?".
People that overuse it or use it in the wrong context sound like they are 17 years old and dont have a clue about what they are talking about, Rightfully so sometimes.

Things that ARE modified, like the intake manifold..theres no problem in shorthanding that. Changing things out isnt modifying, its changing.

With all due respect, and with no ill intentions, so as to not upset or anger any one person with my input, but I would like to offer the following opinion as my own, for others to review, at their leisure and without any pressure, intentional or subliminal or otherwise.I would like to modify this thread about mods, if it pleases the general public on this forum, and I would like to proceed on matters of greater importance, and of greater interest to us all.
