Default 5.2 or 5.9

I just found out that the guyI bought my truck from has change engines before I got it from him. He also was not sure if the guy that did the work put original 5.2 or chages out the motor to 5.9
Is there a stamping/casting on the side of the block that would tell me what size motor this is??
Is there any other way to tell exactly which motor I have?
Thank you,

The engine serial number is stamped right into a machined pad located on the left, front corner of the cylinder block.
I.e.

X M AAA YYYY 0000

X = Last digit of model year
M = Plant
M Mound Road
S Saltillo
T Trenton
K Toluca
AAA = Engine displacement (CID)
YYYY= Month/Day
0000 = Engine Serial Code

I could not find any machined pads with any numbers.
I foundsome numbers (cast)on the driver side of the engine block
All I could make out is some 5-6 digit number then space then 318 space some other number.

Does this mean that this block at least started out as 318?

yep, my bet is the mechanic just rebuilt the 318, probably bored it out 20 or 30 thousandths so maybe you have 322 or something like that

Could be an older model 318 without the machined pad, but it is definitely a 318.
