Default Newby question bout skid plates

okay so I just got a 98 ram 1500 4x4 5.9 and was thinking about upgrades for offroading. Of main concern is finding a skidplate for the gas tank and other skid plates. Basically I want to armor up as much of the underside as possible, starting with the gas tank.

So i guess the question is can I get a skid plate for my gas tank from dodge or is there some aftermarket company that makes one. The level of offroading I’m talking about is on the extreme, Moab[sm=alcoholic.gif], on the lighter side Ouray Colorado,as well as make your own road type stuff.

not sure if anyone makes one, but personally the only skid plate I would ever run would be atleast 1/4 inch and that would be very heavy, maybe relocate the tank into the bed via a new fuel cell. Probably would be easier to do that (and maybe cheaper)
