RPM spike
I'm a firm believer that you can't have too much information when diagnosing a problem. So here it goes.
It started about a year ago, when I started to move from L.A. to Texas. When I got the truck past 50 mph, it would continuosly have an RPM spike. At 50 mph, I'd get maybe 2K RPM and it would stay at that level. When I got up to 55+ it would be at 2K RPM and spike anywhere from 2300 to 3K RPM and go back to normal. It didn't just do it once, but it would constantly do it. Kind of like you were slamming on the gas and then letting off and repeating it many times over. After the trip it went away. But later when I moved from Michigan to Texas, it started again. This time it constantly does it and even more frequently than before. It's even stalled on me multiple times. Once going up a tiny hill, and about 7 times in a fairly level parking lot.
My dad's durango had a similar problem and his solution was a rear o2 sensor. However, my brother doesn't think that's it. I, for one, have no idea, so I'm hoping someone else has had this problem. Any help would be greatly appreciated. This forum has saves me hundreds of dollars, and hours and hours of time from helpful posts. So thanks in advance for any help.

Or a really bad plumeum. That was happening to me. I had a bad plenum and a tps sensor that was going out. the combination of the two made my truck surge like it was goin outta style. check your plenum with a flash light an peer down the butterflies on your tb. If you see oil its blown. Tps 40 bucks I changed it cause it was cheap.
Ild say your locking converter is dropping out...
When driving along at constant rpms/speed, lightly tough the brake pedal and see if it is reacting the same way??
Touching the brake pedal unlocks the converter.

Thanks for all the replies guys. Once again the forum didn't send me an e-mail that people responded, so I just saw them. Once I try them, I'll give an update. Hopefully a good one.

With people seem to have a trans problem but its related to the tps , what would the brake pedal have to do with it ?? Get a scanner and you will learn that as soon as you leave off the gas pedal the TQ converter unlocks , get on the gas pedal TQ converter locks...
