I did my side windows a couple weeks ago with some Gila film I got for $7... used the baby shampoo and water method and they turned out pretty good. I'd recommend finding a scratch resistant tint, as I put some light scratches in the driver's window during the install.

If you want a really got good tint job i would just go have it done. there are a few brands on the market that have a lifetime scratch, bubble, and fading warranty, but only if the film is professionally done.
As to the police... I live in Missouri and the legal side tint limit is 35%. now unless you **** them off... they usually leave ya alone, but if you really want your windows tinted beyond legal limit and dont want to have to worry about tickets i would go to my eye doctor and have him write you a script for it.

Ive got 5% on mine all the way around and have had so for the last 5 years. Been pulled over many times, but i make sure to roll down both windows before i stop. I have had them compliment on the tint but never had one tell me to take the film off. just be nice to em and you shouldnt have a problem

I got my truck tinted 18% & decaled up for a whopping 100bucks. I know the owner of a local and very well known tint/decal shop and got deal.. Ohh yea lifetime warranty on the tint for fade/crack/peeling.

My Buddy used the shampoo method and his came out really well but started to turn purple after just a few months, it may be worth to just have it done with the good stuff...

The shampoo or detergent method is fine, but if you want a professional finish, wrap a piece of old t-shirt around the spatula to get the bubbles out, if you have a bubble that won't come out (sometimes this happens when the window has a slight curve), use a hair dryer or if you're very careful, a paint stripper (hair dryer works fine for me). The film will shrink and the creases or bubbles will disappear. I've done numerous cars with that method and always get professional finishes!

Have fun!

Its normal to see alot of small bubbles. But you wanna get whatever air you can out. When my truck was done it had tons of them, after 2 days they were mostly gone and after a week I had not one left. It takes alittle time for the air/water to escape sometimes. Warmer it is outside the faster they go *poof*!

So Ice, this post is alittle old, what did you end up doing and how did it work out for ya?
