if you want just a little rumble but nothing too drastic, tryasking the guys in the Durango forum, they usually do a good job at balancing the performance vs family aspect. exhausts are basically the same as the Rams.

I think either magnaflow or flowmaster makes a 70 series muffler that gives you the performance flow with a much reduced noise level. Just be careful to check that it's not the 70 series diesel muffler.

Here it is:

I never have had a complaint, although I'm sure the muffler has worn out a bit, but I run pipe all the way to the back bumper with two resonator tips. I can hear my stereo just fine.
I'd say that at idle, the system is slightly louder than a '69 Roadrunner with stock mufflers...and when you really step into it, the response is the same as well.

As an aside, any aftermarket muffler is going to be louder than a stockersimply because it is so much smallerand has less area to absorb and cancel sound waves.

The flowmaster Super 44 has a drone from 55-60 on my 360. Then it goes away. There is something peculiar about it. I am not running duals though. 2.5 in and out.

I have the 5.2 litre with a 40 series flowmaster on my truck and it rumbles pretty softly when im off the throttle, but as soon as I throw the gas down that thing cranks up like a fricken supercharged muscle car. So overall I would say it is a pretty good exhaust, its quiet enough that I can get away from the house without anyone noticing if I want to and loud to show off if I want to also. And I would say go with the flowmaster also, because it seems like it is loud when you are around it, but the volume doesnt carry as much as the magnaflows so from a distance it wont seem bad like the magnaflow. I have a friend who has the magnaflow on his truck and it barely seems louder when your next to it than it does when your 3 blocks away from it, but the flowmaster will gradually get louder the closer you get so it wont make people around as angry.

I have a 40 series too and there is no way I could get away from the house without others inside hearing me leave. It makes the inside of the house rumble. It's pretty loud. I just am pointing this out as I don't want him to get one thinking it's going to be quiet.

maybe thats a big difference between the 318 and the 360 though... because mine is definitely near silent when I want it to be. is yours dual, and if so is it true dual or single in two out of the muffler?

yeah I know that 44's are loud, bros monte (true duals on a 305) and i can hear him almost three blocks away if I am paying attention for it... even if i'm not I always have enough time to get my boots on and out the door before he gets to my driveway... it's only 15mph here... it takes awhile to get around. 44's are to loud on a 350 at idle, and a 360 at idle... if i lived elsewhere in the community i wouldn't care as much but MR grumpy at teh end of the block is going to make my life rough if I end up running one.
