PA, if you were offended by what I said, then you might have some IQ issues. I said most. I wasn't referring to those on this forum. Most of the mechanics that have worked on my truck have been incompetent, smucks, or slow. Period. And yes, I have started doing my own ****. And yes, I keep my truck clean myself thank you very much. If what I said offended anyone, then they are either retarded or smucks, otherwise it shouldn't have bothered you. And as far as TOTM goes, what a joke that is. I'm in 3rd place without a chance, it's a joke..

I have to halfway agree with you on the mechanic issue but halfway disagree. I know several mechanics who are really smart and really good and just great to deal with. However on the other hand I know a ton more that are like you describe. I'd say most of the mechanics I've dealt with outside of working with them are sort of like you describe. Not all of them and there are some great ones just like the ones on this forum however I think there are a ton of bad ones out there too.

Reid, way to spin my words around. I think it's a joke that I'm not even close to competing. I think a nice truck is a nice truck, and I'm very shocked that I'm in 3rd place, not even close to second, period. And yes PA, you are thin skinned. I love it when guys says they aren't "thin skinned". Yet you were the one who got your panties up in a bunch because obviously your either semi retarded or a smuck. And if you are neither, then you shouldn't have taken it personal. IF I thought anybody on this forum was a smuck or a retard, I wouldn't use it so frequently, so please stop changing what I said around. As far as the way I dealt with it, I couldn't have handled it any better. Going from $830 to $400 was a remarkable change, and I thank myself. And you know why I got that differance, because I know mechanics now. I know the shananagans they try to pull off. They would find themselves getting along with me if they were just honest. Just a simple phone call saying hey we are going to need your truck into the night is helpful, instead of leaving me in the dark not knowing what's going on. I've been screwed time and time again. Mechanics aren't getting the nice guy treatment anymore, it just doesn't work. My brother and me are very nice guys, and we get along great with people. But then when they take advantage of you, it's a tough blow. It was a huge blow to me that the mechanic did that to me. Neal, the mechanic who came to my house and did the rearend with me, really screwed me. And he knows he did too. It's too bad he ended our relationship on those terms. As far as being a child, could not be further from the truth. I'm a man my friend. And I bust my *** off. Everything given to me? I work for everything I get. I bust my *** off in school, constantly doing hard physical labor for the excavation sites, so do not judge me. I don't see where the anger is coming from some of you, but it obviously hit a nerve. A nerve that either hit you because you know it's true, or because your ignorant and interpreted what I said as dissing this forum and some nice mechanics. Again, most mechanics are smucks or retarded, just the way it is. Trust me I know, I've dealt with a ton. Everyday I"'ve continued to get better with my truck. You should check my garage out, it's getting more and more like a real mechanics garage. The other day, I" replaced my own radiator and a/c clutch, that's right. Bet you didn't know about that. So don't tell me I don't try to do my own ****. And don't tell me I think TOTM is a joke. IF I thought it was a joke, I wouldn't be bothered by the fact that I am in 3rd place, and lighyears away from even getting 2nd. I didn't say I need to win, but my truck easily should have been competing side by side with the other two trucks. Hometheaters and mine trucks are great, I" just think we should have been riding neck and neck.

I think he is just getting crappy shops. I've had it happen as have most people. I know your dad or brother or whoever owns a shop but just because he runs a good one doesn't mean they are all good. There are a lot of shops out there that just want to rip you off. I've seen it time and time again. I finally found a couple I like but I've seen plenty I don't like that do the same kind of stuff to him.

I think he handled the situation well. I don't think he should be saying all mechanics are idiots as they are not but if you can sit there and tell me that there are not a lot of them out there to rip you off you will be lying to me. This isn't saying there aren't a lot of good ones out there but there are a lot of bad ones along the way. I think once he finds a nice shop he will realize this I think he just hasn't found one yet.

 

Alright for those who can help me out and not rag on me would be nice. I just got the truck back. And it looks terrible. I want to puke about it. The tires look so narrow on the truck, it just doesn't fit the trucks persona at all. IT was too much to handle in one day. The lift taken out and then these pizza cutters put on. They have to come off right away. My original thought was right, a 305 needs to go on this truck. Same width, just not as tall as the 35". And to boot, the truck feels IDENTICAL in power. I didn't feel any gain of torque even with the tiny 285s on. They looks so out of place, I don't even want to take pictures of it. It just looks so soft, and looks like a big long boat, they are coming off pronto. I am ordering the 305s tomorrow. So what size should I go with? And what tire. I have to do this quickly. I hate the procomps. I think the Toya Open Country? That's a really nice smooth tire right? And what size. 305/?/R17? Thank you.

 

**Ok I figured out what I am doing. I am putting the 35" tires back on the truck tomorrow. And getting my money back. Now check this out. I am buying 16" wheels and 305 tires for them. Those tiny tires really showed how ugly the wheels look, they just look terrible. My brothers couldn't stop laughing at the truck. So I think getting a new wheel, and a smaller wheel will make the 305 tire look even bigger. The tires are just so sucked in right now. They don't stick out at all, it's hideous, I just want to hide my truck right now, it's so sad. I think I'll get the M/T Classic II wheels in a 16 size. What is our bolt pattern? And what wheel size should I get?? I'm also going to get the Mickey Thompson Baja ATZ Radial Plus. It's a smooth tire, and I think it will make most sense.
