need help no power
hi im in need of help i have a 96 ram 1500 4x4 it has 35's on it and i have no power to turn them . i put in a new motor in it last year its a 360 bored over 30 . i think i need to re gear the axles but i dont know what gears to put in . its my daily driver so i dont want it to low but i want to feel the power it should have . im waitin to play in the mud
I would say 4.56's since its your daily driver. But if you tow or wheel regurlarly 4.88s would be a much better choice. Also if there is any chance that you will ever go bigger then 35's I would say go ahead and get the 4.88's
ok i stopped at a shop today to see what it would cost to regear my truck and they told me $2300.00 and they would replace all moving parts . and they also said i should go no higher than 4.10 or i wont be able to go over 55 . i dont know what to do
CP, I don't think that shop knows what they're talking about. Take it to a local 4wheelparts . Will probably cost about $1600-1800. They can recommend a good ratio for that truck. There are many rpm calculators on the net. The people here will know more about what RPM range works for them.

you have a good point about the 4.10 gear would be alot easier for them to sell. so the 4.56 feels like a good gear in your truck it gets up off the line alot better not slow like mine.
