Default Alarm and remote start any advice?

Hey its me again the infamous rp97, i just bought a crimestoper cs2011 or something like that. Anyways the guys around here want like 175 bucks to install MY alarm system/remote start/keyless entry. So 2 freinds and me are going to try to install it once it arrives. Im the least expeirience and the other 2 are like medioker. Crimestopper has directions to install it and all but does any1 have any advice or more ram specific wiring diagrams/directions for me? It would be greatly appreciated.

seriously, i think you should have let them install it, this isn't gonna be a basic wiring job, I watched the guy that installed my alarm/remote start and he had the entire dash dissassembled and honestly unless you guys are like super electronical wizzes id either do what moparmania sugested and get a fire extiguisher and hope the instructions are really detailed, or just pay the guy to have it installed correctly. after all its better to pay the money now and know its done right then try to do it yourself and cause more money in damages then it would have cost to have it installed in the first place...but if you are dead set on doing it yourself i wish you guys luck, and if you get it done and it works perfectly then i'll have to give you guys some props

I've installed four of them in different vehicles. It's actually pretty simple if you follow the directions and take your time. Make sure to have a good set of wire strippers, sharp razor blade, tester and electrical tape. My first one took me two hours. The last one I did took 45 min.

Yeah, they're pretty easy to install. I've installed a bunch of the same Crimestopper's that you bought. It's a real nice unit.

It's used to see what wires are live (hot). Some look like a screwdriver with a point on the end, light in the handle and a wire with an alligator clip to attach to a ground point on the vehicle. Walmart, autozone or any auto parts store has them, just ask one of the people that work there. I've also seen some alarms/remote starters that came with a little el cheapo tester but they do work. I know Bulldog used to supply one in some if not all of their kits.

A test light. They're dirt cheap, but if your in a pinch, you can make your own. All you need is a 12V bulb, two pieces of wire, and a pin. I'd suggest getting a multimeter over a test light, but I feel that wouldn't do you any good (no offense).

Don't sell yourself short. With basic wiring knowledge, and the correct wiring diagrams for the vehicle, it's actually quite easy. Electrical mods are a lot easier than most people make them out to be.
