What kind of mileage are you seeing out of your Ram?
The people on here that do drive like a grandma, never go the highway speed limit, and draft behind semi-trucks have gotten about 20. If you don't do all that, and think you'll get 20, you're dreaming.
I'm not trying to be a dick here, sorry if it comes across that way. Just being a realist. Now, 18 with the 5.2L is achievable, but even then you still have to drive like a grandma.
These are big, heavy trucks, with the aerodynamics of a brick, with motors designed for power, not for economy.
That being said, these are actually some of the most aerodynamic trucks on the road.

but if my calculations so far are right, I'll be getting about 23 MPG's with mine, and that is mostly highway miles.

Don't see the word "may" anywhere. Even 18 I don't believe on a 4x4. Not calling anyone liars, just never gotten close in my rig in 7 years of owning it. Best ever saw was almost 16 but that was due to the Hypertech and Flowmaster. Maybe some of you guys are just dang lucky. On the flip side, I've never gone below 10 and some guys have. Jimmeh, I'm truly not starting a fight. Just giving you some realistic numbers. I don't want to be reading your new post in a week "What happened to my 20mpg???" or the typical "What can I do for better mileage??" Seriously, if you're in the low teens, you're doing well.
5.2 285/70r20's thats alot of rubber and I am getting 14 in the city. I have recently installed electric fans and underdrive pulleys. That has helped me break into the 14's in the city. I have not taken a road trip to see what the highway will be. I do not drive it like a granny.
96 1500 5.2LMagnum= 16.5MPG
01 2500 5.9L Cummins Diesel = around 20MPG
96 Toyota Corolla 1.6L = 37.7 MPG
Can you guess which one I bought 2 weeks ago and drive on a dialy basis now?

The best I ever got was 16. It was around 12 for a long time. Now that I have this rattle going on, I've been around 13/14. I'm afraid to change the oil or do a tune up now!
Some trucks are just better then others. You dont have to believe me if you dont want too, but, when my dad was working at the dealership(he was a body man), someone came in driving a old dodge ramcharger(i forget what year), but he was getting a bumper replaced, and he was bragging about how great his milage was he claimed over 30mpg, my dad didn't believe him, so he test drove the vehicle, and ran some tests(not sure which ones) and sure enough the mans truck got 33mpg, I'm not sure what exactly he had done, but my dad said that a dodge representative gave him a brand new truck in exchange for that miracle truck.
Like I said you can call me crazy, but its true

my bone stock 01 4x4 e/c 360 falls right in with everyone on the average. i checked mine about 2 weeks, i got 13mpg on the highway driving around 70 mph hauling a load of firewood to the lake. if i were empty and drive 60-65 i'm sure i could be better.
i would like to do a K&N air filter and a Superchip programmer. when needed do a cat back upgrade.....
but i still drive my 92 s-10 blazer with 185,000 miles everyday, 4.3 V6, 24 mpg last time i checked.... i just did a tune-up and will try to do the math again this weekend.

Hey man, I can see from your post you aren't trying to bash, just pointing out my own words to me. No harm to my ego, as I think I can take a little critisizm, especially when I make myself look like an *** on the internet [sm=smiley20.gif]. I admit, I was basing my numbers off the position of my gas guage, and the miles I had traveled. I should not have done that, because the gas guage is never as accurate as we would like. I filled up when the gas light turned on, which was right under a quarter of a tank, and that's how much it filled up to.
Once I get some money, I plan on down grading a size in tires (I bet that's a first on this site for a 4X4 guy) and doing the routine fluid changes. A few things fixed, and the truck will run like new, just not look it
