Default "ticking" in rear end ?

"I have a 95 ram 1500 5.9 4X4. I was driving today and out of nowhere it felt like I hit a 3-foot pothole. Now the rear end has this ticking noise. The noise seems to coordinate with the speed of the truck. But it doesn't match up with the speed of the tires. If you let off the gas its not so bad, but when you pick up the throttle it gets louder. But other than that noise, the truck runs, drives, and handles fine.

Ever run into anything like this before ? Any help is very much appreciated. Thanks"

Have you checked the U-joint at the differential?

That is the first place I would look.

Have you pulled your wheels and drums?

Sounds like your diff might of taken a dump. Pull the cover off, look for big chuncks of metal.

With how you descibed it,as far as the loud bang at first and then the ticking noise,I feel it could be the diff as others have stated.

Definitely pull the cover and check it for metal.

Yup, before you drive it much more (or any at all), i'd check the driveshaft u-joints, pull the drums off an inspect, and also pull the cover off the rear diff and inspect.

unless the truck shakes or has a viberation at certain speeds you can cancel the u joint being the issue , unless the pad let loose or the springs or the self adjuster mite came loose and now its bounceing around , wheel bearing ? or the rear is taking a dump ..good luck.

Thanks alot for all the help.
Its not the U-joints or brakes, so... I'll be checking the diff on thursday. I'll keep everyone posted.

Thanks again.
