Anyone Raced a HEMI Yet?
If so, how fugly was that race?
I've been doing a bit of searching and it seems like the STOCK HEMI trucks are putting down anywhere from 265-275 horsepower to the wheels. A stock '98 Magnum 5.9 puts down roughly 190-200 to the wheels. I was feeling big headed about having the minor mods in my sig until I saw those HEMI numbers. My truck MIGHT get 230-235 to the wheels if I'm lucky but I seriously doubt it. That still leaves it 35-45 rwhp short of a stock HEMI. No wonder Dodge got rid of the 5.9 and went with the HEMI.
Anyway, if you've raced one, how did it turn out?

I don't know the one I rode in felt pretty slow to me and it was stock and brand new. I'm sure they are faster but I've never been that impressed by the ones I've seen. They all seemed slow to me although my truck I also consider slow. I did see one with a exhaust and who knows what else the other day that really impressed me when it took off. They do put down some pretty good hp numbers but hp isn't everything. I'd like to hear some opinions on this too.

I had an '03 quad cab with the Hemi, and my truck now could have beat it! I was so disappointed with the Hemi engine in that truck. I had to trick it into barking the tires from a stop, and that didn't always work. It seemed to be lacking throughout the rpm range. Don't get me wrong, it was fun to drive, but it sure didn't seem to have the 345HP that they claimed. I don't know if they have improved the design, but I can personally attest to the lack of umph that I expected it to have. I seriously could've out performed it with the truck I have now. I think the torque management from the factory made it too tame. Now, if I had been able to modify it to the extent of what I have on the one I drive now, then it would be another story all together. The Hemi did sound nice withthe the Flowmaster 50 series si/do muffler, and I had the funtional ram air hood on it, especially at WOT.

Just seems like the newer trucks these days are very modular. They don't have any raw power, it's all controlled by a computer. I hop into my truck, and it's just raw power coming from a 360 and I love it. I would not be suprised if my truck would destroy a hemi, especially with the smaller tires now. When I floor it, my truck will sit there for the first 3-4 seconds just peeling out before it will get traction, and that's without a breakstand. I'd love to race one, one of these days I'll get my chance.

I bet that they will eventually put the bigger hemi(6.1L...I think) in a truck, they advertise like 400hp I think. I know on dodges website they said that their two fastest cars were the viper..duh and the jeep grandcherokee with the 6.1L, the jeep is all time 4wd, so it wouldn't spin it would just go.
