Default Starting/Fuel Mileage prob

Last few days i noticed that you have to hold the key a little bit longer to get the truck to start up and at the same time my fuel mileage has dropped quite abit......Idk wat to do.....Ive cleaned the air filter and the sensors on the throttle body but it still does it......at idle it vibrates a little bit and just started doing that too........Replaced the O2 sensors roughly 10,000 miles ago so that shouldnt be it.....any ideas are appreciated

Does it take longer to start the first one of the day or always?

Longer first start of day usually means fuel pressure regulator going bad. Check the fuel pressure and do a drain back test.

Have you ever replaced the Cat.? You should atleast test it or have it tested. Not to mention checking the plenum.

It takes longer everytime except for the occasional time or two it fires right off.......Cat has never been changed or anything......I opened the butterfly valve and looked inside the throttle body and its really dirty.....Its got about 124,500 miles so is about time for a new cat?......

Look down the TB again, if you see any oil pooling in the intake you a plenum gasket. And if the cat is original I can almost garantee you need to replace it.

If you have the original cat. you should replace it too, no question about it. The bad plenum wll ruin the cat over time also. And since you say it's the original one from 98 it needs repalcing anyway!

Whoa guys, you're advising some gasser fixes for a CTD,

Post up in the Cummins forum, It's a sub forum when you look under the general Dodge Ram forum title. They'll be a little better at it than we would.
