rear end noise???
I was on my way home today and when I round some turns not all there is a terible clanking noise seems to be intermitant both left and right turns perhaps more frequent at higher speeds.
Any thoughts? could it be a ujoint?

Yeah even if they dont have any play in them, take them off and check them. If they're real rusty they could be rusting through although it is uncommon it has happened to some of my buddies.
My drive shafts are very rusty as are the u-joints. I can not free the retaining nuts/bolts.They are all very tight though with seemingly no play.
I have never heard of ujoints making noise in only turns. Is this a definate possibility? I would be really releived if it were just ujoints. How ofter does the rear end/differential have a serious problem?

Well it is definately not coming from the front. I supose it could be the middle u joint. BTW its a 2wd extended cab 8' bed. but definately not front end noise. I can feel the noise/vibration through the floor board. Hard to discribe by typeing but I think I have done a good enough job.
Well that answers my next ? I was going to ask for specs. on the truck! I suggest you fill out your sig and maybe more people will chime in. Some will not bother to reply if they don't know the info about your truck.
I assume you have checked the rear end grease level ?

yes full of oil. I just took it around the block again and could not make the truck make the noise at any particular time but it did maks a slight clicking/grinding noise from the middle/rear 1 time but couldnt make it happen again.
