Default First Problem with the Ram

Heya everybody.

Well, my first problem post, I think. Approximately two weeks ago, I installed a Blaster 2 coil into my truck. Worked great, not sure if it improved my throttle response a little or if it was my imagination, but it definitely smoothed out my idle a little more.

So today I had some free time, so I decided to do a better job of wiring the Blaster 2. I had the wires make-shiftingly wrapped around it and a couple other cable ties holding em, so I redid the wire routing and made it nice and neat. Got everything hooked back up together, and... no start. She'll crank over, but she will not start.

Yes, I can hear the fuel pump "whir" when I turn the key to the "ON" position, and before start.

Troubleshooting done so far:
1. I did not cut off the original harness for the stock coil. I cut the insulation on both wires about two-three inches down from it, to expose bare wire, and wrapped wire around that exposed wire (to go to the Blaster 2). So I got rid of the Blaster 2 wires, and plugged the original harness into the stock coil. Snapped the Distributor plug onto the tower, and... still no start.

EDIT: Sorry about multiple replies to my own message, but forum won't let me post the entire problem/troubleshooting otherwise.

2. Took a multimeter and clamped the positive lead to the positive end of the battery. Took the ground and touched both wires in the harness, both read approximately 12 volts, so unless I'm mistaken, that means both wires are good (no breaks).

3. Took off the distributor plug wire on the distributor cap side, and tested the ohms from that end to the coil end. Approximately 9.4k ohms. Is it just me, or is that a little high? I am using the Autolite Professional spark plug wires, BTW.

4. Tried taking the spark plug out, putting the boot back on, and trying the ground/spark test. No spark, no matter how close I get to the spark plug with the ground wire.

So that has me thinking that perhaps I broke the coil wire from the distributor. What are your guys' thoughts?

Another thing I've seen mentioned in some posts is the crank sensor. Could I have damaged that somehow?

Thanks in advance!

It's possible, the crank sensor wiring runs behind the engine by the distributor. have you checked the ignition system relay in the PDC?

Would it still turn over like it does if that relay was bad?

Pull it and fire it up and you'll know. I know when you pull the fuel relay the truck will crank and fire for about 1 sec before it burns off the fuel. I'm just wondering if you accidentally crossed a wire or arched and blew something. I did that once being lazy not disconnecting the battary and cutting 2 wires at once. Cutters completed circuit and blew a fuse.

Well, I discovered the problem. The fuse for the computer was blown. It was such a fine break in the metal inside the fuse, that I couldn't see it last night with dim lighting. This morning it was pretty obvious though.

Went down to O'Reillys and paid $3 for a new one, slapped her in, and wala. You were absolutely right, just a blown fuse. I checked the smaller ones closely, but not the big ones. A big night of headaches for nothing. Thanks a ton!
