Headlight Question
I know I've asked before, but I still was confused on this. I finally installed my new headlights and had the wiring fixed. Now I can move onto HIDs. I'm confused though. My truck has two different bulbs for hi/low. If I buy a 9007 Bi-Xenon kit that is hi/low, will this work for my truck? Would this just mean it would share one bulb for hi and low, or is it going to come with two different bulbs for each headlight? Just a little confused. I'm thinking of going with pure white HIDs for the headlights and foglights, I think it will look really neat, what do you guys think??
I've heard a lot of bad about HID's in stock Ram housings. I think I posted a link to my thread over at HID planet in the past for you. Those guys seem to know what they are talking about. Not sure if the sport ones would be quite as bad or not but apparently the Ram headlights don't like HID's at all and produce a lot of glare. I was all set to order a set as in getting ready to place the order and the more I got to reading the more I decided it probably wasn't a good idea. I say do a retrofit which is the right way to do it or don't do it. Thats just my opinion and going off of what I've read. They did say you can paint part of the reflector black and it helps some but honestly if you are doing that much work you minus well just do a retrofit.
I've seen the HIDs done in many headlights that were stock and they don't seem anymore blinding than the HIDs that come stock with many of the cars of today. I don't think it's just the ram headlights that are particulary blinding, any kind of regular housing with HIDs will be intense. I really would like to have white HIDs for the headlights and foglights, 5000K. But I still am confused about our headlights. Do I have to buy two seperate HID kits for the sport headlights? I have 9007 for lowbeams, and 9004 for lowbeams. Is a 9007 bi-xenon kit going to take care of both low and highs, or?
Some cars stock headlights seem to react better to HID's than others. The Ram's headlights seem to be one of the ones that don't react well. I'd honestly just get a set of white bulbs if you want the white look. You then wont be blinding everyone else. From everything I've read sounds like HID's just aren't that great in these trucks while blinding everyone. You need projectors in these or to paint the lower I think it is reflector black.
Why not just get a set of Farenheit bulbs or something? A lot cheaper and will look white while not being blinding to everyone.
I've thought seriously about HID's in both the Ram and the Honda. Seems like the Honda's oem headlights while not as good as a projector retro fit it seems that they seem to do okay with HID's the Ram on the other hand doesn't seem to.
As for the low beams not sure. I'd think you'd need a 9004 and 9007 kit but not exactly sure.

i saw a truck in walmarts so i wasnt able to ask him... maybe you guys would know .... i know it wasnt the 05 as it had same nose as mine 98 .. but his seats were leather his dash had wood grain but my point is his headlights .. they were clearer and had a couple of horizontal lines in them.. and the corner lights were still amber but still clearer .. are they sounding factory to any body or aftermarket
Sport headlights maybe? Were they the ones with dual bulbs? There are those and some aftermarket ones. Did the corner lights have an amber reflector or just an amber bulb? Could have been clear corners with just an amber bulb. Woodgrain could have been aftermarket. Not sure if it was a factory option or not but might have been. Really hard to tell you if they the stuff is aftermarket or factory without seeing it.
