I know my truck is never going to, ment to, designed to, wants to .... be a race car so thats not what im after. But what i do know is its not running as strong as she used to and am trying to figure out whats effecting it the most.... The truck is lifted and has stock gears so i know ive lost low end with that and it also has a leakyy plenum.. Which do you think is effecting power the most.?

EDIT.... holy crap this is the first post that has worked in 3 weeks.. finalyy!!!

Depending on up keep and milage it might be time to do a rebuild on your engine. Your stats say you have a 94 so being that it's that old and I'm sureyou have a lot of miles on it as well. A goodcleaning and some new gasketswill do wonders.

Yea fix the plenum, the valves , cat. converter, sparkplugs etc... are all slowly getting destroyed by the leaking plenum.

The truck has 120k on it. Not that many for a 94. When i do the plenum im put in a new water pump and valve cover gaskets and a full tune up as well.

change the o2 sensor intake air sensor when you do the plenum gasket.

does a 94 have an intake air temp sensor?. Where are they located side of intake manifold?. I was under the impression that they were only on the later 2nd gens.

I think some of the biggest things affecting power for these motors is the compression ratio along with the low valve lift and valve opening durations.

however, if you do decide to change your valve lift and valve durations with a new cam or some roller rockers, or change your compression ratio by getting new pistons or your heads milled, just don't forget to freshen everything up. If you go so deep into your engine that you replace your pistons or cam or something like that, it's always a good idea to do what was mentioned earlier. new plenum gasket, and while your at it, check everything else. Plugs, Plug wires, distributor cap and rotor, O2 sensors, and so forth.
