The driver was probably some yuppie *******.You should never try to seriously drag a car like that without slicks on it.

LOL actually what got even better was on his second run he did a burn out and ended up blowing a tire and they had to close that track down for about a half hour to clean up the mess and tow the car. If I was that guy I would never show my face at the track EVER again.

Funny thing is I am sure my Z would have smoked that driver with his Viper. The Z kicked some major butt at the Khumo Race Wars in the 1/8 mile only got beat in one run by a motorcycle... which I didn't loose any sleep over cuz if that crotch rocket wouldn't have beat my Z I would have laughed. (best of all the car is all stock 350z roadster and i entered it after never racing it and only owning it for a week)

i saw that episode of trucks and that was a BADASS truck.
Best episode of trucks. It was on again either last week or the week before. I must say it gave me more respect for my 318. What he did with the exaust was awesome.

The problem doesn't sound like it is power and power doesn't necessarily give you faster times. You can have all the power in the world if you can't get the truck to get traction it does nothing for you.... (much like the Viper)

Track suggestions.
-loose as much weight as you can before you run... take out anything u got laying in the bed, spare tires, subs, whatever u may have.
-I don't know if you can do this with big tires like that but drop the tire pressure. The tires will set on a larger portion of rubber, thus giving you more grip. Don't drop them till they are flat... but enough to give you a bit more surface to grip with. (lots of people I know do this with street cars when they bring them to the track so they will grip better)
-don't launch in 4WD it will only slow your truck down. A trucks 4wd is not the same as a rally type AWD car (like the Lancer Evo or the WRX Sti) they are not geared for racing an you will more then likely break something launching in 4wd.
-learn your truck... A lot of track times especially in bracket racing revolves around people consistantly launching the same. They learn the certain points in their truck, how much throttle to give it on the launch, when to shift. If your truck breaks free or tires break free try a little less acceleration or try launching at a little lower RPM.
-1/8 mile speed times have a large percentage on the driver. Usually your 1/8 mile time gives you several speeds at different intervals in the track. Did you save ur old track slips? saving track slips can help u find the areas in which you need to work on.

oh and for my Viper comment earlier I saw a Viper at the 1/4 mile track run a Camero SS. The Viper slid and the tires broke free on every shift and the Camero Killed it. You figure the Viper got atleast a 100-200 Extra HP which did it nothing cuz it can't put it to the pavement. Just some food for thought.
The driver is the most important part when it comes to times. I remember seeing an episode of Pinks between two bikes and one of the owners had a pro drag bike racer racing for him the other bike negotiated for the owner to drive. He was like 5 seconds slower. The owner was a big dude but still that's a big differance. Simple adjustments like tire pressure and knowing how your car handles plays a big role as well. A friend of mine use to have a 89 Maxima which was a fwdand now he has a 2002 BMW z4 (his dad bought it for him and he hates it with a passion). That z4 is like a mini Viper. It's weight-power ratio is wacky not to mention it's rwd. First month he had it he kept losing control for it on fast take offs and turns from a stop. Still haven't completely gotten use to it.

I have seen some fast cars not be able to keep tires on the pavement and loose matches and some serious cash against cars that should not be a competition for them.

As far as the Z4 goes. My ex bought one before we broke up she got a 2008. I drove it and aside from it being killer small (inside) I was seriously disappointed. I seriously couldn't believe BMW put their name on that. She bought it anyway cuz her friend had one and she was sold on them more for the name then anything else. Two weeks later I got my used Z... it had more room, handled way better and could beat the BMW in any test you wanted to put it up against. Best thing was her car costed near $50,000 and mine only costed $25,000. The Z has more room, better handling, and is about twice as fast.

If I get a sports car, I'm going with a 300zx from 1990-1996. Just sold on everything they have, inside and out.

HUGE difference though, sitting in one, and then driving the Ram, lol.

That Z4 really does suck. That's why I said he hates it with a passion. I couldn't even fit in the damn thing but then again I'm 6'4". It's not a very fast car either it's just so light that it gets horrible traction. He's trading it in for a 2000+ Audi S4. I'll stick to my ram thank you.

Those Z's are nice but they sit on the ground. My only complaint is that they ride the road very rough. Basically you feel everything. They corrected that with the 350Z's which ride smoother. They used the DOHC with adjusting cams just like the 300zx's but 3.5 L instead of the 3.0L. The nice thing about that year Z is the fact that you could get the turbo option. If you are going with a non turbo 300zx though the 350z is a much better car IMO. The turbo 300z though... that would be a hard call.
