I think you valve cover gasket is leaking? Or you valve guide is leaking. As for the miss fire your spark plug is all fouled up with oil so that may be why you have the miss fire.

When the misfire happens with the torqueconverter locket up whileim driving I can really feal itthrow the truck, tap the brake and it goes away.im gnu take my valve cover off and check my valve stem seals today

On a 97 I bet the plenum is no good if it's never been replaced.A bad valve guide or seals can cause that too, but I bet plenum gasket.

are you going to pull the heads to replace the seals or do the air pressure trick or the string in the cylinder trick ?

I've got kindof the same thing with my number three cylinder, cept the miss was caused by a bad wire. I just pull the plug 'bout once a month and spray it down with some carb 'n' choke and put her back in, runs like a champ! Eventually I'll get around to checking the rings but I'm saving up for a tranny right now, any suggestions...

AND I DONT WANT TO WAIT OVER A DAY FOR AN ANSWER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sorry couldn't help it!
