Default How well can these motors handle nitrous?

In my attempts to gain some extra power out of my truck the thought of a nitrous kit has crossed my mind. I've never had any experience with them but have read a lot of the horror stories. I got to thinking about either a 50 shot or a 75hp shot. How well would the 360 hold up to it? The actual motor I have is stock other than the pleneum pan. The rest of the mods are just bolt ons. I have almost 104k miles on the motor but would more than likely do a compression test before I went any further with this to make sure it still has good compression. Am I going to blow it up if I add this or will it be able to handle it? Any tips?

adding nos will decrease your engine life by alot, i wouldnt go above a 75 shot, and with that many miles on ur stock engine id be weary about a 75 shot. Personally id stray against it untill youve built up your engine more, as in serious mods, like heads and block work. You could crack your block and well thats the end of ur engine. If u go with nos stay below 75 and watch it carefully. Good luck, should add nice horses

i wouldent even put a shot of 50 or even 25 on it. mohawk is right. you shold do some more serious mods especially block work.1 shot could A kill your engine or B make you go woah S%&t then boom. or C "911"IMO i'd hold off on the nos untill you have a little more work done to that motor. thesepeople that run nosthink nos is an easy "i can beat anyone" trick but it'll cost in the long run or sooner then you think if you engine isent built for it. besides bottles are for babys. true power is the way to go. IMO nos is just an excuse to go faster or beat someone in a race, think of it as "cheating" and you know the saying "cheaters never win" but thats my 2 cents.

Nitrous is worthless unless you're racing it. You're never going to feel that power until you hit the button, then it's over till you refill the tank. Not worth it in my opinion.

Port your heads, and get a bigger cam and you'll get some power.

i wouldn't do it at all.... i think with the money you would spend on nos you could buy rollor rock arms (http://store.summitracing.com/partde...p;autoview=sku) or (http://store.summitracing.com/partde...p;autoview=sku) don't know if i would go with 1.7 or 1.6. that would really open goodwith a good cam. plus it cost every time u use nos and killing our motor. cam androller rockers is what iwould do if i had money. "' it's just what i think it your truck and yourmoney"

+1 with ramsey

outside a quarter mile, if you build an engine right you wont need the bottle.

You can waste your money pissing around with highflow catalytic converters if you feel like blowing a few bucks to tinker on your truck, make an un-noticable amount of power, and make your truck a wee bit louder.

If you want your truck to go faster start looking at heads and cams, or a blower. Maybe lower gears if your looking for acceleration.

I don't think I want any lower gears or not much if anything. I have 4.10's with 33"s now and they seem to do well I just want more power. As for the Magnaflow Cat. Converter yeah it's on. It made the tone a little different and maybe a tad louder. I didn't want it louder but it doesn't sound bad. Other than changing the tone slightly I don't think it did much. I guess my next step is tearing into the engine if I want more power as I've done most of the bolt ons other than the tb. No bolt on I've ever done to a car has made a big enough difference I've noticed much of a difference from it. I guess I just need to be prepared to sped a bit of money if I want some more power.
