So tomorrow I am bringing my truck down to the exhaust shop and having them reroute my exhaust to go underneath the bumper. I'm doing this for three different reasons. For one, I think it will clean the look up a little bit.And two, the tips just look too big for the smaller tires. They looked good when I had 35" tires, but now they look like giant ****** going out behind the smaller tires, not a good scene. And the third is I'm hoping it might be a little less loud in the cab pointed away from the truck. When I'm in there, I'm going to ask if he can put some kind of resonator into the exhaust though, it's just getting to the point where it's too loud. It's always making noise. Having passengers isn't realistic. I priced out 50 series mufflers and they are EXPENSIVE! So hopefully I'll kind of copy rons idea and put a resonator in the existing system and hopefully will eliminate most of the drone.

 

Let me know how you like this when you get it done. Be sure to post up some pictures. Are you keeping the same tips? I've thought about doing this as I don't like how dirty they get behind the rear wheels but honestly I like the look like they are now and don't want to pay to have them redone. I might someday though not really sure.

 

Also man just curious how much is this costing you?

 

It's going to cost me $70 to have it rerouted. But if he has a resonator, I'm sure that might add to the price a little bit. I'm hoping the resonator will smooth the sound out a little bit and eliminate any highway drone. The other night I had a new gal in the truck, and we were on the highway and it was just buzzing the entire time, so it was kind of awkward. So I defiantly want to do this. I'd be very pissed if my stupid truck destroyed a hott date haha.

 

Haha I know what you mean about how stuff can be too loud. The 96 Accord we have used to have an aftermarket exhaust on it and that thing would make your ears hurt it was soo loud if you didn't have the silencer in.

Anyway that's not a bad price at all. I had gotten a quote once for mine a long time ago with the old exhaust and it was a lot more than that. I'm not sure what the shop I go to now would charge as I've never asked. For $70 that just seems like it wouldn't be a bad thing to do.

 

it cost me $90 to have the Y pipe put on and straights run right out the back, I dont hear the drone, but I think I've just learned to ignore it. I really only notice it when I downshift

Back when I was pricing around for my exhaust, one shop quoted me $300 to remove the muffler and just run straight pipes back from the cat. I hung up immediately. Highway robbery.

Heh, what do you Wisconsin people know. Oh, BTW, its pop, not soda. Its also duck, duck, goose, not duck, duck, gray duck. Look it up, every reference lists gray duck as a variation of duck, duck, goose. It came first, its the correct way, and you guys over there are just weird. Not all of Wisconsin, just the Madison area.
