If your talking about the K&N "CAI", the only thing your sucking in is less restricted air. Unless your taking in air from an outside source your not getting cold air, or cold enough air for it to matter. You got colder air using the stock airbox and that stupid tube going into the fenderwell, but that restriction easily kills whatever colder air your getting. Anyway, if I remember the conversion correctly, every 10 degrees cooler is 1% horsepower. With a "CAI" like the K&N your not pulling in 10 degree cooler air while still inside the engine bay. The only bonus your getting is with that less restriction. So with that being said, the 14x3 would be better due to an even less restricion, even if its pulling in a lil warmer air. If you really want a good air setup, gotta go old school and put a 14x3 in an airbox with direct scoop fed air.

I understand what Mohawk is saying. However, I still can't comment because since I switched it, I don't think I have even a 100 miles on it. For now ,I do know I have better power across the board and the exhaust is not nearly as loud as it was.

And BTW, not that it matters, but when I switched, I looked down the TB for the hell of it. It was as clean in there as it was the day I replaced the plenum gasket last year. You could eat off it the inside of the intake. No oil sheen , not anything. I was amazed.

am i here...LOL...yes i am..
i tested the open AC , airaid cai , K&N cai , and stock box .
14x3 had some lag with it when i punch the throttle (now 14x3 should be the max height )
CAI less lag
stock box no lag (rember: the boys at dodge has to be doing something right to have that design there , how much does that stock box flow ?? compared to the cai , 14x3 ?? )

unless you change the heads , valves , cam , intake , TB to let more air in your not getting the full effect of the 14x3 AC .

just changing the TB , RR 1.7 the stock box will flow more then enough ..
