Default Using oil

I have a 318 with 152,000 miles on it that uses oil internentintly. I go thrue a qt. every 450miles but never see any blue smoke driveing and it has no leaks.[align=left] [/align]

Every ONCE and a while when you go to start it it will smoke like a banche for 30 sec.

then quite and won't do it agine for a week or two or it my do it the next time it starts.

1998 5.9L with 110K, I might go through 1QT in 3500 miles. I normally change my oil at 3000, and when i do its just at or above the min line.
No leaks either, no noticeable smoke, and easy on the skinny pedal on the right.

1 QT in 450 miles is substantial, yes, thats a symptom of the plenum issue. Take off your air cleaner and open the butter flies and look down in to the intake with a flashlight, look back towards the firewall and see if you can see any oil pooled. Grime is normal, but nothing that looks wet or pooled up.

Any ideas? I know the intake pan is bad about leaking on these things but this an't a little oil all the time.

It don't rattle or knocksome times has a ruff idle when cold for the first min then goes away.

with the plentum gaskit leaking should it use oil all the time like bad rings?

I've done the plenum swap but I still go through oil every approx. 1000 miles too
