rusted ? inside an oil bath? strange.
glad you found the problem. be sure and use the reinforced gasket from felpro or mopar. don't use a cheapo cork gasket.

Cork? :rollin:
I am using the good Fel Pro gaskets. The bolts rusted was the main intake (kegger) bolts that hold it on.

I said kegger...... last time i said that i woke up with my kidneys laying next to me crying WHY? Why? Why did you do this to me?

I got it all done no big improvment in power. It seems to have stopped using oil and the idle sounds a little better. Power (the little it has) is smooth through out the rpm range. Now if this 318 will start running like a 318 instead of a slug on downers. I read the 318 was suppose to be like 210hp but it only feels like 90hp and it don't even have the "death tune" if this is how the 318 are suppose to be then the next truck will have a Cummins something with some power. I mean the old first gen Cummins had 4x more power than my 318 and they were only rated at like 150hp if i remember right. What gives?

It can take 200 -500 miles for the PCM to adapt.
The converter is likely plugged due to all the oil burning.
Ever had the injectors power flushed?

My conver rattles inside the casing (i plan on giving it the old reamer outer trick and do the O2 spacer if it works) and i had power flush my injectors using the wynes power flush kit that includes Flush, TB cleaner and fuel treatment. It also has just been tuned up (from the dealer) But has champion plugs (Nasty) stock replacement wires, (not the cheap ones) new cap and roter (not brass)

well, stock gearing is usually 3.55. If you run bigger tires, you're dropping it even more.

don't expect it to be a sports car. It's a truck after all.

Exactly it's a truck not a K-car on downers my old 76 Nova with a 250 l6 got twice the mileage and had 2.50 gears on 205/75/15 it could kill my Dodge. I am saying this thing don't run like like a v8 but instaed a 4 banger
