Just see if you have a wire running to the back of the front hubs.

+1. most likely an 01 is gonna have rear abs. Check under your hood or in your glovebox for the list of features and see if that says it.

both mine went, one was worse than the other.
Also had one u-joint replaced, should have had them do both, and while they had both bearings out, I should have had them replace the axle seals.

glad you are safe again...

I have a quesiton regarding how you know if your hubs/bearings are going out?
I have a 2WD (2000) and I'm getting noise from the front passenger side suspension. It can be felt underneath the floorboards too. Any ideas?

jack up the front. grab the tire out on the edges. wiggle left/right. wiggle top/bottom. should be no wiggle movement.

a thump sound under the feet of driver or passenger is lower front shock bolt not tight. must be 100# torque which is a helluva lot.

I'll give that a try and see how it goes.
I will also try and re torque the shock bolts

Edit: The lower shock bolt was loose. I tightened it to spec (105) so I will let you know if that fixes anything.
I didn't notice any reasonable play in the tire but I did notice, when I was jacking the truck up, as the tires left the ground the bottoms rotated inward. Does this mean anything?
