transfer case problems i think

Default transfer case problems i think

alright im going to buy a 96 ram 1500 with 132000 on it only thing wrong with it is when u put in in rev. it sounds like its a blender but all the drive gears work LO 2nd and drive its a 4x4 truck short bed reg cab and i was wondering if its the transfer case because we put the back end up on jacks today and the mech. got under it and said it most likly is the transfer case i was wondering if u guys would no anything about that and its a 5.9

a common problem with the transfer case is a broken snap ring at the rear which allows things to shift out of place. i'll look for a link, but search on nv231 snap ring. if you fix it immediately its quick and easy. if you allow it to grind all the gears into filings...... then a little problem turns into a big one. about $1000 for a reman.
