the long bed would be more stable if you're doing a lot of towing. for normal driving i'd go with the shorter one. its better looking too.

Yeah the sport one is stock thats why I was kind of trapped between the two. The sport one is a hell of a lot cleaner it looks like its coming off the lot brand new. The other is in very good condition but not quite like the sport edition. But that one has all of the upgrades in it. I like the idea of getting all of the upgrades with it cuz if I get the sport edition I know that I'm gonna buy stuff for it. I also like the idea of the 3.73 gears in the long bed model. The Sport only has 3.55 and I was planning on putting 33s or possibly 35s on it.

I'm not that familiar with diesels and gear ratios either but I'm sure it would do much better than a gas engine with 3.55s and 33s cuz of the low end torque.

I also wanted something different like a nice color that you don't see a lot of. You dont see too many silver sport CTD and you rarely see a gray dodge let alone w/ two tone.

I suppose I will have to take them to a mech cuz Its such a draw I'd have to see which one is in better shape mechanically and make my decision based on that.

the mods you're talking about (chip and exhaust) are used to get "more power" out of the truck. its my experience that most people who do that run them harder than people who leave them stock. that may or may not matter with a CTD and that may or may not matter to you, but whenever i buy something, i only buy it if its still mostly stock...

i've got a buddy with a 3rd gen ram ctd 2500 xcab short box. chip, gears, etc. he runs the absolute **** out of it. takes it to the tractor pulls and pulls the sleds... will hook em up with anybody, anywhere, anytime... will line it up for a drag anywhere, anytime... its a beautiful truck, but i wouldn't want to pay top dollar for it. it'll be worn out long before its time.
