Default Sparck Knock gone?!??!

Hey all, just a question here, Ive had a bad sparck knock for the longest time. I always assumed Bad plenum, now I put some fuel injector cleaner in the gas tank about two tanks ago, and the knock is gone,, seems totally gone, wtf, what gives? I mean Im not complaining really, but could a gummed up Fuel injector cause spark knock if it effs with the injection timing?

the fuel injector cleaner cleared out some carbon deposits,
probably that where causing 'pre-ignition'

Simply un-screwing a spark plug to break deposits loose
then screwing it back in
will sometimes stop pinging
for a few hundred miles
until the deposits build up again
like they always do

Hmm, I did try the whole, replace spark plugs ( went a bit colder as well) and I tried seafoaming it too previously which didnt help. You think it may have to do with the summer blend gasoline? IDK it's just weird to me lol

89 or 91 octane will often stop spark knock too. if it comes back you still have an underlying problem, plenum or something.

with a blown plenum and stock pcm i had no ping. then when i put the hypertech program in pinged like crazy on 87 but didn't ping on 91 nor 91/89 blend. i fixed the plenum and replaced timing chain and the pinging stopped. i don't know if the timing chain had any effect or not.

pinging is bad for the engine and robs power and mpg. add higher octane gas as necessary to stop it.

If the pinging sounds go away with higher octane gasoline
you have detonation, perhaps caused by the carbon deposits raising the 'real world' compression ratio

if the pinging sounds do not go away with higher octane gasoline
you either have 'pre-ignition' caused by a carbon deposit glowing red,
or perhaps you have some other problem causing a sound like pinging
perhaps a broken valve spring
perhaps a very stretched timing chain
or perhaps just simply something loose hitting like a bell

using a 'fires in oil' extension sleeve on one spark plug at a time
and moving it to each of the eight plugs in turn
can help 'zero in' on what cylinder(s) are causing the problem

for about $30 you can buy an 'electronic stethoscope'
whose microphone can be stuck different spots in the engine compartment,
while you wear the headphones and do test drives

lol, its not knockin' or doing anything like that anymore after I ran fuel injector cleaner..

1:High octane helped before ( 92 + Octane booster (NOS) seemed to elimate it), anything else and I would hear a really loud rattle(spak Knock)

2: After running Fuel injector cleaner, Im running 87 with NO spark knock at all. Can floor it up hill with absolutly no sparck knock.. And I just find this really interesting lol.

do a search for
'Magnum Engine Sparkplug FAQ'
where just about every plug is covered
