Headlight Problems
2000 Dodge Ram Sport
My problem....
No low beam lights !
I do have high beam lights. Low beams come on with high beams. Fog lights work and go off with high beams as usual.
I replaced both low beam bulbs with new ones. Still have same problem as above. I purchased a new Headlight switch from Rock Auto and installed it today. Still have same problem as above.
I have checked for power at the light sockets headlights on low beam and every pole is hot with the headlight switch off or on.
With the high beams on pin #1 on both sockets is dead on both high and low sockets.
With the fogs on and headlight switch on low beam all pins are hot.
With fogs on and headlight switch on high the fogs go out,as should, and pin #1 is dead on both sockets.
I am perplexed! Could the computer be going crazy or would the dimmer switch be out.
Here is a quick pic of the pins...

Well found out last night. Replaced the headlight switch - didn`t work. Pulled steering colum plastics off and looking at the dimmer/turn/washer/wiper switch.Found that 2 wires were smokin hottt. So hot that I could not touch them but for a second. Also the plug that goes into the switch has a burnt spot and the plastic has cracked. Ordered a new switch from Rock Auto and should be here soon. Now I have to fix the two wires that were burnt. Also going to look for a wire that might be shorting out.
I had exactly the same problem on my camaro the other day, except my headlights didnt work at all. I assumed the switch was bad, replaced it, did nothing, so had the mechanic at the shop I work at look at it and he found the dimmer switch was bad. That was a PITA.
Can you give me a link - I CAN`T SEEN TO LOCATE IT
