Default What Spark Plug Wires to use?

Dodge guys please help....

I am about to do the first tune up on my truck, I would like to change the spark plug wire set, spark plugs and would be great if I can change the coil also for a more powerfull spark.

What do you guys recommend?

I would like some wires and coil better than stock, but nothing close to high performance, about something in between, any sugestions?

I went to the dealer and just the cost for a set of new OEM wires is $75. I wouldn't mind paying that much for a new set, but if that's what I would be paying, there's got to be something better out there right?

So please let me know guys.

Thanks.....

If you don't want to go close to high performance, a good set would be the Autolite Professional wires, IMO. Really good wires for about $50, without going to the high end 8.x mm ones.

Although, if any of my local guys carried 8mm wires for my engine, I would buy them. They are better, and probably worth the extra cost, FYI.

I also grabbed a MSD Blaster 2 coil, two pipe clamps from Menards, and installed it in place of my stock coil.

Anything 8mm will work fine, the autolites from advance work great, the jegs (jegs.com) 8mm Pow'r wires are good wires, but I had a problem with fitments on my Camaro. MSD also makes a good budget wire set.

As for the plugs, go with some autolite 3923's or some champion truck plugs. Stay away from platinum. Then for the cap and rotor, go with something with brass terminals. You really don't need a new coil if there is nothing wrong with the old one, you cannot tell a difference between the stock and a high output coil unless you have supporting mods.

Magnecor are the best USA made ignition wires.

NGK better grade called 'Power Cables' are very high quality,
as Magnecor admits,
but you have to buy two sets of 4 cylinder cables for a V8

If you buy ignition cables
from a company that advertises near zero electrical resistance
you are being gypped
and the company considers you a sucker

Don't forget to put never-seize on the threads of the new plugs. Next time you change them out, you'll be glad you did.

Thank you so much for the info, now the good part will be to choose which wires. I have seen some 8mm wires selling on Ebay, how good do you guys think they are?

I have heard about the 8mm wires, I imagine they have less resistance, meaning more power right?

I already have a brand new stock (from dealer) cap and rotor, all I need are the wires and plugs.

Are the stock (dealer) plugs better or the same as the autolite's 3932's (or something like that)?

Where can I purchase those 8 mm wires?

8mm wires means the core of the wire is 8mm. Honestly any brand will work fine, but I would stay away from the ebay plug wires.

i ended up using the MSD Superconductors 8.5mm wires and got them from either jegs, or summit racing. i like them quite a bit, and its about $80-95 for basically a lifetime set, they installed nice with clips to label each plug#. only downfall was the size did not fit the stock clamps and it was a little bit of a tight fit on distributor cap. for the money, definately worth it.

The stock dealer plugs are OK most of the time, but Champion truck plugs are better. Autolite 3923s are a heat range colder than stock, and some claim they work the best.

Go with the Champion Truck Plugs first, IMO, and then if you don't like them for some reason, exchange them for the Autolites.

I don't have any experience running the 3923's in the 318 and 360, but I did put them in my sister's old 06 dakota with the 3.7 and they made a HUGE difference over stock (also the stock plugs were gapped incorrectly.)
