New transmission yay!!!
check valve is on the lower line the line going into the rad at the bottom also called a pressure line also need a fuel line tool to take the line off , but thats where the check valve is , thats where the trans fluid comes out , the upper line or the top line that goes into the rad is the out going for the fluid (fluid goes in the bottom comes out the top back to trans )
Also rember , the only thing that the PCM controls is lockup on RE trans , on RH trans hydrolic controls lockup (TQ CONVERTOR)...
And yes get rid of the anti drain back valve (that was burnt my trans up clogged)

On the RE and RH both 4TH gear and Lockup are electronically controlled. Only the first 3 gears on both models are completely hydraulic.
rethink that.. Here is a pic of the overdrive unit no plug or sensor , plus if it was computer controlled would be no use for the cable on the TB... the only thing that the PCM controls is TQ convertor lockup ,thru the TPS , get on the gas lockup , off the gas unlock ...

It should be under warrenty for 6 years or 100,000.

If you look at the valve body it has 2 solenoids side by side, they look identical. One is for the converter clutch and one is to stroke the 4th gear shift valve. Every A518 and A500 except the non lockup models have these two solenoids. Now think about it. If you need a solenoid to activate a gear... then that makes it electronically controlled. The first three gears do not have solenoids.
If it were mine and the tranny took a shift at 36k you better belive the dealer would be putting one in, FREE AND NEW not rebuilt Sounds like LoveGreens down the road from us trying to bend over a customer when they know Thier the ones that has to pay to put it in.

I think it was just barely past the warranty on years. It was a very ****ty deal none the less.
lol if you think 36,000 is bad one of my friends had a ford fiesta and he was so excited cuz he bought it with like 16,000miles on it. I was in the car with him when the tranny fell out in the road (lol literally) at 18,436 miles(i remember cuz it was so rediculous). Well the whole tranny didn't but pieces of it did. Never laughed so hard in my life.
well new transmission is doing fine. now the ac pump is gone. took it off and now the belts i can get are too short or too long.... so the truck is sitting in the driveway. and yes i know about the replacement pulley trick, but that didn't work either. stripped out the bolts and even at that the pulley wasn't even aligned remotely close to the other pulleys. cheap chinese crap.
Monte, you obviously know what your'e talking about, but for everyone else, just to clarify...the big difference between the RE and RH is that the H has a hydraulic governer circuit, whereas the E is electronically controlled via a PWM solenoid (with pressure transducer feedback). This gives the computer some control over the shifting in 1-2-3 (basically TV pressure vs gov pressure)....correct me if i'm wrong though.
Hey, dont mean to highjack the thread, but I do have another question on the check valve. In temps of -45 and colder could this check valve be the reason that these transmissions gel up and stop flowing thru the cooler?
